The Fantastic Ghost Rider

Updated: Jul 9, 2020

Official Ghost Rider Preview from WizKids!

Today's character focus looks at a very unique member of the Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider Alejandra Jones. This version of Ghost Rider was created in 2011 during Marvel's Fear Itself event. Sitting at 50 points at virtually 6 clicks of life thanks to her "Temporarily Sent Back By Johnny Blaze, King of Hell" trait she can squeeze into several Fantastic Four theme teams nicely.

Team Role

We can quickly make out that this Ghost Rider is meant to be a secondary mid-range attacker with the potential to deal more than her points worth of damage thanks to Quake, Penetrating/Psychic Blast, Blades with Exploit Weakness and Flurry (with 4 damage by the way). As such, you'll want to maximize her damage potential and help her out a little as she has no Improved Movement/Targeting and a rather short range. If all else fails she can also be a smallish tank thanks to her Steal Energy and her trait that allows her to come back after being KO'd the first time.

Clix Combos

As mentioned previously, you'll want to maximize her damage potential as she can deal much more than her points worth. This Ghost Rider would definitely benefit from having someone with Telekinesis (TK) on the team such as #002 Invisible Woman from the Cosmic Clash starter set or #003 Crystal from the Inhumans fast forces set. It helps that those 2 characters are also great figures that are also worth their 100 points, and incidentally that still leaves you with 150 points to play with regardless of who you choose. #024 Spider-Man from the Marvel Heroclix 10th Anniversary set is also a good fit as he can reposition enemies to bring them in closer within Ghost Rider's striking distance.

All of the Additional Team Abilities seem to be a good fit too as they all seem to cover for her weakness of lacking the Fantastic Four team ability and add to her strengths of having a very solid starting attack and defense values. Consider also that Fantastic Four spoilers continue to roll out so there may still be more possible combinations you can create to make Ghost Rider even deadlier.

Comparing Clix

The last version of this character to be made was the M-026 2015 Convention Exclusive Alejandra Blaze Ghost Rider. At nearly half the points, the new one loses

the Mystics team ability but gains more consistent attack and defensive values throughout her dial. The new Ghost Rider also loses Indomitable, although you'll hardly notice it thanks to her 2 starting clicks of Willpower. Another trade-off is the new one loses "Improved Movement: Ignores Hindering Terrain" while gaining 1 more range. Overall not a bad deal for 50 points as she also gains the Fantastic Four keyword which will give her more team building options for future teams here at CasualClixin!

Final Verdict

At 50 points Ghost Rider will be making a lot of Fantastic Four teams. She has too many upsides with her consistently high attack and defensive values as she also combos well with any of the Additional Team Abilities. What hurts this figure? Not much really. Lacking Willpower past her starting 2 clicks, and her smallish range seem to be it. And the latter can be helped with some TK teamwork. I can't wait to get my hands on this figure to see just how deadly she can really be. Casual Clixin' Rating: 4.5/5
