The OP, OP Justice League

With all the focus on being on Marvel's side with the release of Uncanny X-Men and the upcoming Civil War summer event, I thought I'd switch gears a little and build a team off the recent Organized Play (OP) kit featuring 3 Justice League members Green Lantern, Flash, and Green Arrow. Each one of these dials is very strong for the points, and they give us a solid foundation to expand on. They clock in at 285 points, so with a couple more members they can be a pretty solid team (maybe not overpowered but great nonetheless).

The OP, OP Justice League

85 WKD16-004 Green Arrow

115 WKD16-005 Green Lantern

85 WKD16-006 The Flash

125 FFBVS004 Aquaman

90 WF001 Superman

0 CRS003 Opened Hydrant

500 Total

Taxi or Uber?

We'll start with the main reason I wanted to build a team like this and that is Green Lantern and his team ability. The last Hal Jordan GL with the Justice League keyword was made back in the Teen Titans set, and if you look closely there weren't that many characters that could benefit from Hal's Green Lantern team ability. Even Aquaman had a transporter symbol which prevented him from being carried. When I was putting this team together I also wanted to build it similar to a Justice League of America team I'd play back when Crisis was modern (the team was Batman, Atom, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, for an even 400 points in case you're wondering). I wanted to take full advantage of his team ability so I made sure all other members could be carried, even Superman who can Shift Focus has two versions that don't fly.

Up, up, and away!

Speaking of Superman, he's the glue that holds this team together after being carried into position by Green Lantern. His 001 version from World's Finest gives adjacent friendly characters +1 defense and can't be countered, so placement is everything to ensure he is able to assist everyone. Shift focus to a flying version if you need to carry another teammate into position, and since Green Arrow, The Flash, and Aquaman are all very competent attackers try and keep him back until the situation arises for him to attack. If you're facing a team with Stealth use his Shift Focus to the #33 version and use Aquaman's Perplex to increase his attack value to make sure he hits his target.

Tear down this wall!

Green Lantern and Aquaman both have Barrier. Use it. Aquaman's Barrier is free if you choose a map that has plenty of water, or if you don't get map choice place the Opened Hydrant special object in an advantageous place. Since Green Lantern's attack values start pretty mediocre he might want to focus on protecting his teammates by using Barrier instead of attacking, or even by acting as a meat shield himself as a good hit will place him on his deadlier clicks and increase his range. Use Telekinesis if you have a huge opening to take advantage, and don't be afraid to be aggressive and push The Flash or Green Arrow as The Flash just accumulates Speed Force tokens and Green Arrow has consistently high attack values.

Swiss Army

This team has a lot of options. Green Lantern can choose between dark green and light green powers every turn, Green Arrow has his Trick Arrows to either break groups up with Energy Explosion, deal Penetrating damage to a brick, or Precision Strike to hit a pesky enemy, Aquaman makes free Barrier's, has Perplex, and can bust positioning with his Quake too, and Superman's Shifting Focus trait just adds to the versatility this team has. If you play in a format that uses resources or if you just like to use them, Aquaman should be the one to go. I don't think his 75 point version is worth it, so look for a good support attacker like the 85 point Batman from the Batman vs Superman gravity feed or prime Captain Atom at 75 points. This will give you plenty of room to add a resource of your choice.

That's it for today's Theme Team, and I'm hoping i get to play some games this weekend to put up some Head-to-Head's. Until then keep casually clixin'.
